LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Scenic Bluffs Community Health Centers opened a new dental clinic earlier this month in La Crosse, and it’s getting support from Mayo Clinic Health System.
Mayo donated $40,000 to the dental clinic, which serves anyone regardless of income or insurance.
The money is going toward purchasing supplies to provide quality dental care to patients.
Mayo says dental care is a top health need in our community and many people in our area go without it due to the cost.
“Oral health is a key component to total-person care and routine dental checkups, which can help identify other health conditions that can otherwise go undetected. Our goal is that everyone in our community has access to regular dental care,” said Caroline Wilker, M.D., Mayo Clinic Health System Diversity & Inclusion Chair.
The dental clinic is open Thursdays but Scenic Bluffs Community Health Centers says it plans to expand services in 2021.
The Health Center operates similar dental clinics in Cashton and Viroqua.
