Leon County reported 56 confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Monday, and a 68-year-old Wakulla County man has died because of the novel coronavirus, according to the Florida Department of Health.

That person is now the sixth coronavirus-related fatality attributed to Wakulla County. The state health department reports deaths by the individual’s county of residence, which may not necessarily be where they died.

The youngest of Leon County’s newly-confirmed cases is a 2-year-old boy. To date, he is one of a total of 98 children who have tested positive between the ages of “zero” and 4. The oldest of the new cases is a 96-year-old woman.

Leon County’s 32304 ZIP code has consistently reported the highest number of locally-confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus.

Roughly five months after the pandemic officially hit Florida, the ZIP code holds the highest number of recorded cases throughout the Big Bend region. Without comparing the number of confirmed cases to the ZIP code’s population count, Gadsden County’s 32351 is the ZIP code reporting the next highest number of cases.

Here’s a roundup of each county’s ZIP code with the highest number of recorded cases via the state health department:
