A growing number of A-List celebrities commendably take time off their busy schedules to encourage everyone to stay the course in keeping safe and strong.
It’s been quite a few weeks since I last logged in on showbiz and lifestyle happenings (explaining my “un-millennial-slash-Z-llenial” choice of word for events) with the rollout of “The Manila Times: Lights, Camera, Boto: The Chatshow Edition” multi-platform campaign series taking up multi-barrel amounts of time to get going.
Happily, all is well and going (and going) as the online show and complimentary Sunday Times Magazine feature combo does its job. That is, to empower all “Ka-Voters” in making the right choices come May 9 in his critical time of discernment for our country’s future.
We’re going on our fifth week now (and all through the final Sunday before elections), but I digress in this column with my shameless plug. What I want to say today — and really commend actually — is the growing number of our A-list celebrities who are truly taking time out of their precious and all-busy-again schedules to remind the public of something exceedingly consequential. That even as Covid statistics and alert levels steadily go down, we cannot let up on the most important realization that exploded around the world two years ago: our health.
Read on, remember, learn and stay the course.

Vic Sotto
Why coffee breaks are critical to ‘Bossing’ Vic
“Nag-kape ka na ba?” is ace comedian Vic Sotto’s new favorite greeting nowadays. It was how he greeted a “Zoomful” of media colleagues at the beginning of the week looking every bit the “Bossing” everyone surely wants to have. A figure of authority who commands respect, delivers inspiration, and yet comes across as a genuinely concerned and thoughtful man on top.
Now Bossing Vic’s question is all to do with that last part — his caring nature — which batch after batch of “Eat Bulaga” (EB) Dabarkads hosts and loyal audiences have experienced first-hand in the last 42 years of the program. For wherever, whenever and however his iconic triumvirate of Tito, Vic and Joey can help those in need, Bossing and his friends are there — even if it means devoting most of the EB’s airtime to games and surprises, ergo a shower of pangkabuhayan prizes, to grateful everyday Filipinos.
It is also the reason why he was excited to deliver the news — more specifically the effects — of a brand new product he’s endorsing, this time to help inform the public of an easy and affordable way to take care of their health.
“Pangkalusugan naman ngayon,” as Bossing said, is his top priority and advocacy.
Introducing the product as his “new health partner,” Vic first of all expressed, “Since 2020, we’ve all had to adjust our life plans and until now we worry about what could happen to us because of [the Covid-19] virus. Kaya nga eto, para sigurado tayong ligtas sa sakit, pa-Zoom-Zoom pa rin tayo at nagpapaka-safe sa bahay.”
The 67-year-old showbiz idol — who went to reveal how he is grateful to have spent the last two years working from home making up for lost time with his older children, while savoring every little milestone his four-year-old daughter Talitha conquers in front of him — thus intimated that never in his life has he realized how health trumps all other possessions of man.
Determined to be as healthy as he can for Talitha as she grows older (not to mention having another baby with wife Pauleen Luna anytime now, God willing) Vic eagerly looked into Boss Max 3 — a dietary supplement and coffee brand made from Mangosteen Xanthone — and what it can do for an ever-busy working celebrity and family man like him.”
“Itong Mangosteen na ito ay isang locally known fruit that offers a long list of health benefits na hindi ko alam noon. Siya na ngayon ang ‘Bossing ng Kalusugan ko’ bilang isang organic dietary supplement and coffee to help strengthen my bones, joints and heart, along with antioxidants to help my keep up my immune system.”
To live a happy, fulfilled and worry-free life like him, Vic emphatically added, “Kailangan nating maging mabusisi sa ating mga iniinom na vitamins and supplements to ensure that we are equipped with the right amount of nutrients to helps us boost our immune system na makakatulong to juggle our work and family life.”
Therefore, following months of product trial, the famous guy’s proven advice to men just like himself is to go for a strong or creamy and enjoyable way of getting and keeping healthy via a cup of BossMax 3 every day.
“Alam n’yo, basta’t malusog kayo at maganda ang outlook n’yo sa buhay, yang problema, dadaan at dadaan lang yan,” everyone’s favorite Bossing guaranteed. “Ang unang pinaka importante ay ang kalusugan natin. At sa murang halaga — wala pang sampung piso araw-araw — karapatan ninyong magkaroon ng extra immunity to be healthy dahil ang totoong bossing mo ay yang kalusugan mo.”

Matteo Guidicelli
All the same, Piolo, Matteo and CSC, who gathered together for a very important launch of global insurance company Sun Life, advices everyone that two other important factors go hand in hand in achieving sound health.
“What I mean by that is rewarding yourself every now and then even if you’ve taken on a healthy lifestyle of eating well and exercising regularly,” explained Piolo. “Like the other day, I came out of a long locked-in taping and I went ahead and had a bag of chicharon because where’s the fun and excitement if you don’t?”
Matteo agreed with his bro completely, happily adding that over at the Geronimo-Guidicelli household, exercise is must every day because rewards are daily too.
“Every day, there’s bound to be a freshly baked cake by my wife (Sarah) in the kitchen!” he enthused.
CSC, who admitted chocolate treats here and there are non-negotiables for her, said dancing with her grandchild balances the cheat days out.
Besides letting go a little every now and then, the three health buffs also zoom in on mental health as a critical part of real healthy living. And this is where — and why — they all lent their full support in Sun Life’s launch of its “Partner in Health” campaign.
The project is comprised of digital videos where Piolo, Matteo and CSC will talk about lessons from past experiences that paved the way for their brighter futures — among them of course, is investing in their health. (The videos will be shared on Sun Life’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/SunLifePH and YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/SunLifePH for the duration of the campaign.)
Complementing the videos is “Safe Space,” a series of webinars focusing on mental health to be conducted in collaboration with the Philippine Mental Health Association, Inc. (PMHA). The pilot stream, entitled “Love ’em, Hate ’em, Stress ’em: Mental Wellness for the Family,” will be held on April 9, to be followed by “Imperfect Balance: How Mental Wellness Bridges Work and Life” on May 14, and “You are Worth It: Illuminating a Path towards Holistic Health” on June 18.
The celebrities further shared that in making the learning series more fun and interactive, Sun Life will also engage followers of its Facebook page through bite-sized content dubbed “Mind Your Health,” which promotes holistic wellness and mental health.
And at the end of the day, they all agree that it isn’t easy to achieve good health on your own. It can only happen with a partner to help you get it right.

Dimples Romana
How Dimples does it all
In demand prime time actress Dimples Romana has been working since the age of 12. Losing her father and then marrying young shortly after, she isn’t ashamed to say she has always needed to help out her mom and her husband in raising their two children.
Zooming from the US on Tuesday where she’s taken a two-week break with her family while pursuing a short course on marketing with a Californian university, Dimples, now 37, admitted she often felt tired out for the longest time.
Not one to complain over a thriving and uninterrupted career in showbiz, and best of all, a family that is intact and stronger than ever despite the difficulties of marrying young, Dimples happily revealed that she discovered a supplement drink that effectively reenergized, rejuvenated and got her in the best state of body, health and mind today.
“Kahit na nasa kabilang parte ako ng mundo ngayon, kung saan 12:30 na po ng madaling araw, kitang kita n’yo naman na excited na excited ako to become the latest endorser of Santé Barley Max,” she said truly looking beautiful and blooming even from a computer webcam.
Explaining that she’s never been one to fixate on her weight and looks, but instead hope and strive for a holistic feeling of wellness her whole adult life thus far, Dimples said she can attest to the wonders of the all-natural, nutritional powerhouse and worry-free superfood that is barley grass.
Thoroughly informed on the product she’s been using for a year, Dimples related how Sante Barley uses barley grass powder that is certified organic by BioGro — New Zealand’s largest and best-known certifier for organic produce and products that promote the highest levels of organic quality.
“Being rich in vitamins and minerals for the daily diet needed by the human body, it helps middle-aged, health-conscious individuals enjoy a good quality of life by enhancing the immune system and providing protection from illnesses and diseases. The product also contains stevia, which is a natural plant-based sweetener, low in calories and does not raise blood sugar levels.”
Taking just a sachet a day, Dimples swears she’s been able to juggle her wife and mom responsibilities with her demanding locked in work schedule so efficiently and energetically with the health supplement. “I am so grateful for being able to work and have endorsement deals because these are really very uncertain times,” she furthered. “I believe that everything could be balanced with the right blend of time management. Work is essential but my family is the most important in my life. We need to stay healthy and active not only physically but mentally and emotionally as well. This is the reason why I am so ecstatic now that I am officially a part of the Santé Barley Max family because the brand is really effective in strengthening the immune system and providing the vitamins and nutrients that our bodies need every day. One sachet per day or a single capsule before a meal of Santé Barley Max really makes a world of difference.”
In ending, the ever genuine and be-dimpled beauty who’s become part of many families whether she’s a bida or kontrabida on TV for so many years had this to say, “I hope that in years to come, everyone who listened to my testimony today will be in the best of health and remembering this very day when we all took the time to discuss and decide just how important health is above all so we can do everything we need to do for our families.”
