Every county in Alabama has seen at least one coronavirus death, according to figures from the Alabama Department of Health.
Geneva County posted its first death in early August, marking the grim milestone of a COVID-19 fatality in all 67 Alabama counties. The county has now posted 2 deaths.
Cleburne County is the only Alabama county still reporting a single COVID death.
As of Wednesday morning, Alabama has had 1,781 coronavirus-related deaths, 78% among people ages 65 and older. Of all Alabama’s coronavirus deaths, 51% were male, 49.2% female, 53% white and 41% Black. Almost 96% of coronavirus virus deaths in Alabama were among people with pre-existing conditions, the most common being cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
Two Alabama counties – Jefferson and Mobile – account for 458 deaths at 246 and 212 each, respectively.
